Admin, you going on about Her reminds me of Fred and George's exchange in Harry Potter: Fred: Hang on, I think I remember him saying something about it. George: Once- Fred: Or twice- George: A minute- Fred: All summer. But yeah, I'm looking forward to Her now! Can't wait, and the interview Spike and Joaquin did was pretty good!

Film Review: ‘Her’
Spike Jonze's fourth feature offers a singular, wryly funny and subtly profound consideration of our relationship to technology."The courtship scenes between Theodore and Samantha (including a freewheeling day trip to Venice Beach) are among the movie’s most disarming, with Phoenix disappearing as deeply under the skin of Jonze’s wounded, sensitive alter-ego as he did the roiling caged beast of “The Master.” (Shy of Daniel Day-Lewis, he may be the most chameleonic actor in movies today.) In a world where everything is seemingly perfect, Jonze’s film seems to suggest the more astute may feel a forlorn ache for what’s missing; perhaps something tactile and genuine. Deeply perceptive and attuned to the risks, fears, surprises and wonders of intimacy, “Her” is a vulnerable, earnest movie that strikes no false notes, never feels manipulative, and earns the sadness and reflection it evokes in its audience. Disarmingly funny, insightful and empathetic, “Her” may not see Jonze leave his current comfort zone, but the quietly plaintive film is perhaps his most grown-up effort—a tender and moving portrait that's easy to fall in love with.

"The film is a small masterpiece that will undoubtedly appear on endless Top Ten lists at the end of the year.."
"I think it's officially my favorite American film of 2013. Can't wait for everyone else to see it and talk about it."

NYFF 2013: HER Review
“Love is a socially acceptable form of insanity,” Theodore’s friend Amy (Amy Adams) tells him. This line is the closest Jonze comes to justifying the premise of Theodore and Samantha’s love. It’s a bit unnecessary because by the time Amy says it, we’ve already seen that just because this particular love is bizarre, that doesn’t make it any less worthwhile. Love exposes our strengths and weaknesses. More importantly, it grows, and even if it grows forth from an unusual place, it’s powerful and revelatory. So is Her. Review: Spike Jonze gets real magic out of Phoenix and Johansson in 'Her'
"This is a Spike Jonze movie through and through. Everything about it feels like it is of a piece with the rest of his filmography, and this film underlines exactly why I am thrilled that Megan Ellison and Anapurna Films exist now. This couldn't have been a cheap movie, but it would take an act of faith from money people to give Jonze the room he needed to find the film, to shoot the way he needed to so he could find the truth of the thing. The result is something delicate and beautiful and sincere, and Warner Bros. deserves credit for backing artist-driven movies like this, trying to figure out how to sell what was made rather than telling the filmmaker how to chase box-office success. Maybe I'm just in the right headspace for the film's message to hit me extra-hard right now. Whatever the case, the hope the film implies and the way it makes the case for being able to let go and move on at the end of the things make it clear that pain is simply part of the process, and may be necessary if we're ever going to really feel life's highs fully."

"This film is a likely box office hit that will play well for a wide age range, and could also register for Academy voters."

Her: Film Review
"In a tender about-face from his fearsome performance in The Master, Phoenix here is enchantingly open, vulnerable, sweet-natured and yearning for emotional completion. Accoutered to look both goofy and cool, he's nonetheless appealing and the actor exhibits an unprecedented openness that is entirely winning. Passages in Jonze's writing really grapple with what people want out of love and relationships and Phoenix, with Johansson piping in on the other end of the line, makes it all feel spontaneous and urgent."

NYFF review: Joaquin Phoenix virtually in love in "Her"
"Phoenix, who continually impresses with the range and depth of his characters (from "Walk the Line" and "The Master" to the upcoming "The Immigrant"), is at the top of his game in what is, for a majority of the picture, a solitary performance reacting to a disembodied voice. His swooning in the presence of his beloved OS might seem laughable or heartbreaking were it not so vitally present. One key to his character's realism is that he learns to accept the other's limitations -- a difficult part of any relationship -- and the result is a freedom within himself that he felt missing."

Ok, so I haven't watched all of this video yet because it's nearly 1/2 an hour long, but I wanna know who that guy pretending to be Joaquin is.
Seriously though, yeah, he's still a bit fidgety but he seems a lot more relaxed and playful in all the footage and photos we've seen of him recently compared to the last time we saw him do this kind of thing. Maybe New York suits him. Or he's in a happier place within himself these days. Maybe he's in love.

Review: ‘Her’ (NYFF 2013)By Will Oliver, October 14, 2013
"The film in anchored by a superb Joaquin Phoenix who leads most of the time on his own, letting his conversations and facial expressions while talking to Samantha. Phoenix gives a tender performance that shows a mean beaten down by love, who engages in a fresh start with this operation system, who gives him everything that he has been looking for. Scarlett Johansson delivers amazing voice work as Samantha, which was believable and engaging. Her and Phoenix had a great chemistry that was even more amazing considering that they were never even on screen together."
