Hi Joy,
Well, it states it's an international trailer, so may be the decision has been made by the money masters to release it outside the U.S. first... maybe the film is more suited to a European audience? Good news that it's going to be released "somewhere" next month anyway! |

Hi Admin,
I think, going on past James Gray films, that The Immigrant may well be more suited to European audiences, even though the film is set in the US. Marion Cotillard is big in France (being French) so maybe that's an indication of something too.
I'm also wondering if the money people (isn't this one of Harvey W's films?) don't want The Immigrant deflecting from Her (another Harvey W film?) and Joaquin's (possibly the film's/director's) chances at the SOAS awards? I wouldn't be surprised at any rate if there are politics (note the small 'p' people!) involved in this somewhere.
Haha. Sorry about all the parentheses in that last paragraph!
Or, maybe The Immigrant really is coming out everywhere in November after all.
PS: Yes, it is good news that The Immigrant will be coming out somewhere.

Admin, that cake is just perfect for Joaquin. You should apply for the next series of Great British Bake Off.
Anyway, how could I forget that today is Joaquin's birthday?! Do you think he just might pop by the forum? Do you think he likes pigeons? I came across these when I was out and about earlier today.
Happy Birthday Joaquin! xx

Lucky French, getting to see a JP film before everyone else. I think they'll like it. JG's films usually get a great reception in France.

I saw The Immigrant today I've never been excited about this film, mainly because it's not the type of movie i'm interested in.
It's a nice looking film, with good acting... Joaquin plays a more of a supporting role, but still gets plenty of screen time. Marion Cotillard plays her role very well.
I'd say it's not really a cinema-type film, it's more suited to home viewing DVD/Blu-ray or as a TV movie... maybe that's why there has been no rush to get it into theatres?
Anybody else seen it yet? Edited by user Sunday, March 23, 2014 9:05:27 AM(UTC)

I saw the movie, The Immigrant, I though it was a strange movie and not very good, some good parts but never got good, Joaquin looked good and Marion is very pretty, Jeremy was just okay, I like Joaquin clean shaven, so in this movie very hot

Hi kitten,
Yeah, i agree with your opinions of the movie.
The synopsis on imdb says:
"On the mean streets of Manhattan, Ewa falls prey to Bruno, a charming but wicked man who takes her in and forces her into prostitution."
I didn't think Joaquin's character was wicked! His character in Gladiator i would say was wicked!
All the "ladies" that worked for him (he called them his "doves") seemed to like working for Bruno... I wouldn't say Ewa was forced into prostitution either? More, like..."needs must" because of her sister's predicament and there were few alternatives it would seem... I guess she was tricked into it though. I can definitely see how this type of thing happened to many coming to America at that time and i thought the movie did a good job of showing that not-so-pleasant side of things that happened to immigrants then.
Anyway, i thought it was a nice high production "Sunday afternoon" T.V. type movie but, performance wise, didn't really stretch Joaquin in the same way as The Master or Her... or, hopefully, Inherent Vice Edited by user Monday, March 24, 2014 9:03:25 AM(UTC)

There was some actors from We own the night, the lady that was the boss at the club , and the man talking to Ewa when she arrived to new york, so the movies was mostly Marion and Joaquin , so watched Her again I love that movie , alien kid is so cute,
