Joaquin Phoenix Eyed to Star in Marvel's ‘Doctor Strange’ (Exclusive)
Scott Derrickson (“Sinister”) is directing the superhero movie, which could have a presence at Comic-Con As Marvel finalizes surprises for its Comic-Con panel on Saturday, the rumor mill regarding “Doctor Strange” has reached a fever pitch and the actor who has been mentioned most often for the coveted superhero role is none other than three-time Oscar nominee Joaquin Phoenix, multiple individuals close to the casting process have told TheWrap.

As groovy as this is, I seriously doubt he will take the role. He has seemed to bypass every superhero/comic book, etc role that has come his way. However, he very well could surprise us and I would look forward to it.

Thanks for the video admin! I would hope so, but he has been doing karate since he was little from pictures that I've seen with his family. They took karate lessons way back when!:( xoxoo

Yeah, I meant doing Karate more from a fitness perspective. I'm not familiar with the Doctor Strange character, but he does look like he needs to do a bit of fighting here and there!  Most actors who take on comic character roles seem to hit the gym to get their fitness level up before they shoot the film... it doesn't look like Joaquin would need to beef-up for the role though, Doctor Strange seems quite a slim athletic character compared to other comic characters  Edited by user Saturday, July 26, 2014 7:47:33 AM(UTC)

Oh I see!:) I would hope it was for self-defense too:) as well besides fitness wise.:) I hope he would be able to handle the fighting if he does take on the role! Which I do hope he will. But i won't get my hopes up, cos he has passed on characters like this in the past for some strange reason. such as Batman etc..:)
it doesn't look like he has to beef up either from what I see. like he did for I'm Still Here. which I thought looked good on him anyway!:)

No announcement from the Marvel panel at Comic-Con tonight regarding Joaquin as Doctor Strange  It still a rumor for now!
