The Verdict

"Allen does Phoenix and Stone a disservice by
giving Abe all the plot, and Jill all the observations of Abe’s plot.
This is a character piece with one character, and two paper-thin
character worshipers. It’s unfortunate because if Allen wasn’t on such a
movie-making conveyer belt, we might’ve gotten one of his better later
works. The performances are there. But it feels as though Allen cranked
up the narration to finish this as fast as possible and move onto his 51st movie."

"Irrational Man" (Sony Pictures Classics)  - Week 3 $509,528 in 135 theaters (+107); Cumulative: $1,147,000

SPC is opening this more slowly than any of their Woody Allen releases
since 2010's "You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger." With exact
comparisons tricky, this is performing below all of his films since then
(but somewhat better than "Stranger"). Since 2010, Allen's releases
have at their widest reached between 806 and 1,283 theaters. This looks
to justify far fewer (including the expense involved in a wider break),
and that will keep the total gross lower. At this point, it seems
unlikely that this will top $5 million. Since "Stranger" all of his
later films have hit at least $10 million.

Well just came back from the movies. Lynda and I saw "Irrational Man", as Lynda so perfectly said. It had its "ups and downs"! LOL! it was an ok, yet interesting movie it kept my interest thruout. We thought the philosophy teacher part reminded us of Woody Allen himself. but not the murder mystery plot. which added a nice twist to it. The romance with Emma Stone was not necessary if you ask me, but it was nice for Abe to have that.Instead of just the sexual fling with Parker Posey.  i did expect the end to happen but not the way that it happened.  if you are a Joaquin Phoenix Or Woody Allen fan, should go see. to satisfy your own curiosity, as we did!!
