He really didn't seem to like that interview. You could literally feel the uncomfortable-ness off the screen. You would think interviewers would know by now to not even talk to him.

LFF 2017: ‘You Were Never Really Here’ Review: Dir. Lynne Ramsay (2017)
In 85 minutes, Lynne Ramsay packs in more visual information than can be found in most films over 2 hours
long. You’ll wish for the ability to pause particular frames just to gawk at their splendor, but this is a film that won’t let you revel in
anything for long. It’s a frenetic character study that just so happens to be one of the most beautiful films of the year, focusing on an
anti-hero who is neither glamourised nor redeemed. Like the film’s
narrative, he is only broken, and I mean that in the most mesmerizing way.

London Film Festival 2017 Review: You Were Never Really Here
It's a very gloomy and shocking film which often borders on the disturbing, however within this context there is great visual poetry. Phoenix carries the film effortlessly, his manly facial features just fill up the screen, his physical acting make the character truly three-dimensional. The film isn't for the faint-hearted and it does deal with unsettling subject matter, but director Lynne Ramsey has created something of dream-like ethereal beauty.

‘You Were Never Really Here’ is Another Momentous Work from Lynne Ramsay – Shocking and Beguiling
You Were Never Really Here is very much like Drive.
It’s a violent, gorgeously stylish thriller that’s as intelligent as it
is exciting. It manages to be shockingly stark and beguilingly elusive.
I sincerely hope the wait for the next Lynn Ramsay project is much
shorter because she has once again proven herself to be a unique
screenwriter/director capable of momentous works.

Movie Review – You Were Never Really Here (2017)

It takes a very special film to leave you stunned in your seat whilst the credits roll, collecting your thoughts in the dark, not quite ready to bleed into the reality of the outside world. Lynne Ramsay achieved it with the emotional wallop of We Need to Talk About Kevin, and now she has done it again, in a slightly more perplexing manner with You Were Never Really Here. It’s a film in the form of a slight burst of existential violence, with a man on fire central performance from the bearded shuffling monolith of Joaquin Phoenix.
