Scott will start working in Kitbag as soon as he finishes filming of Gucci, which starts in March in Italy.

The project will be produced by 20th Century Studios, David Scarpa (who wrote All Money in the World) is at work on the screenplay of the film, which takes the title from a sentence by Napoleon Bonaparte: ′′ Every French soldier carries in his giberna (kitbag) the Marshal of France ". The story will give a very personal look at Napoleon's origins and his rise to emperor, all told through the lens of his relationship with his wife and only true love Josephine. The goal is also to show the well-known battles, the leader's ambition and his extraordinary strategic mind.

Phoenix will speak with a French accent from Corsica for the film.
