There was a snippet of an article in The Times newspaper yesterday with a quote from PTA about Joaquin.
"Joaquin is just incapable of faking it. He’s like Daniel Day Lewis in his level of concentration. He just got in character and stayed there – for three months he didn’t stop. Joaquin is very unpredictable. A lot of the time I didn’t know what he was going to do."
This was the picture accompanying the article:I saw the picture first before realising that the article was about The Master and it took my brain a few seconds to realise that I was looking at picture of Joaquin as Freddie. His face in this picture is distinctly a face of two halves: one light and the other dark. The two halves are further accentuated by the Joaquin's characterisation of Freddie. He speaks with half of his mouth closed, for instance, and this is prominant in his smile too.

Good catch Joy !! I notice his mouth gestures too. His control of face muscles is amazing. I read a review in cigs and red vines. I will post later. I believe the split face is a split personality disorder. is it called dissociation ? I don't know the name but I know what you mean . It must be so difficult and painful to play a character like this !

Yes, overall, generally positive/glowing reviews for The Master. It's a good idea to keep checking this site: Metacritic The Master (Most reviews in one place)As it collates all the "professional" reviews in one place and gives the film and overall score based on the reviews. 88 out of 100 points. That's almost an A isn't it? Nice !
Cigs and Red Vines says The Master was given 20 points in Venice and could win a prize !

Sami, yes The Master is getting high scoring reviews. I've only seen a couple which are less than enthusiastic about the movie. Just to clarify, did you mean this when you were referring to the "20 points" in Venice? "Deadline says that the film has received the best score in a festival poll of over 20 critics"Venice: Golden Lion Contenders At The Midway Point; ‘Master’ Dominates CriticsEdited by user Tuesday, September 4, 2012 7:56:04 AM(UTC)
