2 hour Paul Thomas Anderson interview
http://www.wtfpod.com/podcast/episodes/episode_565_-_paul_thomas_anderson
PTA confirming what we already know [ 13m: 20sec]: "Joaquin smokes like a lunatic"
We gathered that already, by the fact that very few photos exist of Joaquin without a cigarette in his grasp! I think that's one of the reasons that he doesn't appreciate attending award ceremonies... the no smoking policy in the buildings. |

Oscars 2015: The Daily Beast’s Picks, From Scarlett Johansson to ‘Boyhood’
Joaquin Phoenix, Inherent Vice
There is no better actor—right now—than Joaquin Phoenix. He throws every fiber of his being into each performance, altering his posture, elocution, temperament, and more. Phoenix is the most uncompromising actor of his
generation, and his madcap turn as private eye Doc Sportello is never less than mesmerizing.

Thanks Hippiechick.
I'm not actually watching any of the trailers though because I want to be surprised. Lol. IV is opening here on January 30th which is going to be a really nice filedmytaxreturnandpaidmytaxbillbyJanuary31stdeadline treat to myself. Really looking forward to it - the film, that is, not filing my return.

INHERENT VICE (Warners) expanded, but to a still-midlevel 645 theatres. It was merely OK at a $ 900K Friday and $3M weekend, giving it a per-theatre average of $4500 that doesn’t provide much potential for further expansion.

After nearly a month in limited release, Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice expanded to 645 locations and took 11th place with $960,000. That's lower than The Master's $1.4 million, and half of Her (2013)'s $1.85 million (albeit at nearly three times as many theaters). For the weekend, Inherent Vice will likely earn less than $3 million.
Time for PTA to make a superhero movie if he wants a commercial success I guess, get your spandex pants on Joaquin |

So! How many of you have had the pleasure of seeing the movie? How many times? If not, when does it come out where you are, if known?
Me 3x and counting!

3 times for me HippieChickIt does improve over multiple viewings as it's a bit too much to digest, in terms of story, in 1 viewing Yes, it's a long movie Sarahlou, thought it was going to end at the
Shasta spanking bit but it didn't Glad you liked it! It does a very good job of capturing the mood of the book and, although some bits are missing from the movie that were in the book (would have love to seen the Nixon dollar bills and i'm sure Doc gives some gal oral sex in the book which isn't in the movie?)
PTA couldn't have really done a better job. Love the tune that plays when Doc arrives at the Channel View Estates... I think it's this one:
